I made a pleasant discovery yesterday - Reading an article in the Dec. American Rifleman about the 50th anniversary of the 44 magnum - we've come a long way baby. Even though later developments have religated the 44 mag to plinker status it's still a nice handgun. So as I was reading in the article I learned that the 29 was issued in 3", 4", 5", 61/2", 71/2", and 81/2" barrel lengths with the 5" being the rarest. That was the model I bought when Smith issued their 'Classic' edition of the model 29. Now I read the 5" barrel is quite collectable and rare, how rare I don't know but I'd like to find out just for the heck of it.
I plan on keeping my 29 classic against the day when the homo rebellion starts - like they say; when you're outta Smith, you're outta queer.
